Emotional Regulation

Designed to assess Cognitive Reappraisal (what you feel like inside) and Expressive Suppression ( how you show your emotions in the way you talk, gesture, or behave) after a break-up or loss of a person. 

Answer each question using scale = 1 (strongly disagree) to 4 (neutral) to 7 (strongly agree).

  • Total possible score for Cognitive Reappraisal ranges from 6 to 42
  • Total possible score for Expressive Suppression ranges from 4 to 28
  • Scores provide insight into how frequently an individual uses each of these emotion regulation strategies.
  • Higher scores indicate a greater tendency to employ the respective strategy.
