Supervision with Intention & Depth
Lawanna D. Brown, MS, LCMHCS offers clinical supervision for LCMHCA associates in Greensboro, NC and virtually throughout North Carolina. Whether you are navigating your first cases, building a private practice, or working through the complexities of trauma-informed care with diverse populations, supervision with Lawanna provides the structure, reflection, and support you need to grow with intention.
Clinical supervision is a professional relationship – one that shapes how you think, respond, and show up in the room with your clients. At Progressing through Therapy, supervision is designed to go beyond case review. It is a space where your clinical judgment is developed, your therapeutic presence is strengthened, and your professional identity is nurtured.
Lawanna’s approach to supervision is grounded in reflection, trauma-informed practice, and a deep respect for multicultural competence. She understands that becoming a clinician involves more than learning techniques — it means developing awareness of yourself, your clients, and the systems they navigate. Supervision here is both honest and supportive, creating room for you to grow without feeling judged for where you are.

- Support navigating ethical and professional considerations
- Building confidence for private practice
- Developing clinical reasoning and decision-making skills

- Professional identity development and finding your clinical voice
Supervision is both supportive and appropriately challenging — creating space for meaningful growth while honoring your experience and where you are in your journey.
Supervision Approach
Lawanna’s supervisory approach is reflective, trauma-informed, and growth-oriented. Emphasis is placed on developing self-awareness alongside clinical skill — because who you are as a person shapes who you are as a therapist.
Cultural humility and multicultural competence are woven throughout the supervisory relationship. Lawanna recognizes that BIPOC clinicians and clinicians working with diverse populations bring unique strengths and face unique challenges, and supervision honors that reality rather than overlooking it.
The relationship is collaborative, direct, and rooted in respect for your developing professional identity.
