Am I Expecting Harvest from Plants That Were Never Planted for That Purpose?
A gardener would never expect tomatoes from a pepper plant or cucumbers from basil. Yet many of us spend years expecting emotional support, consistency, understanding, or reciprocity from people who have never shown the capacity to provide it.
In this week’s Discovering Self reflection, we explore the grief of unmet expectations, the pain of waiting for a harvest that was never coming, and the freedom that can emerge when we begin accepting people for who they are rather than who we hope they will become.
Sometimes healing begins when we stop standing in front of an empty plant waiting for fruit.
Sometimes healing begins when we plant something else.
